Similarities

Two peas in a pod, father and son, mother and daughter, volkswagen bugs, grasshoopers; the world is full of things that may look alike, taste alike, or even smell alike.  I've heard it said that somewhere in the world every person has a look alike.  How often have you heard a familiar voice and, when you turned to greet them, that voice belonged to a total stranger.  Often I have seen people I know walking down the street ahead of me, perhaps even wearing the correct clothes but I know it is not that person becauseI went to their funeral a few months ago.

I have been approached by person's who grabbed my hand and told me how glad they were to see me and ask me how some person was doing, then they discovered I was a stranger to them.  Did you ever just pretend to be that person?  It might be fun.  I wonder how many of my relatives and close friends would be angered at such a pretense.   I hope no one is because I have practiced a little deception.

Several times I my life I have been mistaken for a fairly prominent person.  I never saw any resemblance and never considered that mistake to be a compliment although we did have certain things in common.  We both liked the same woman.  We both picked a guitar and tried to sing.  Be that as it may be, since he was pretty well known, one lady and her daughter approached me in a store with a little notebook and pen in hand and insisted on my autograph.  I tried to tell them the truth; their mind was made up.  As the two of us grew older, I started to see a little similarity and, one day, I decided to play a little trick, practice a little deception, and see if it was just the imagination of a few.  I am attaching two pictures and I'll let you decide.  I don't think Johnny will mind, even if I did like to hear June sing before he ever met her.  Today was my day to deceive.

  2. Well, Cash is King, just as this post is. That deep thought, I don't guess the profile is the same, but somehow, I still think of FDR, making a crucial decision at some point, some point of taking us into war, nearly, just nearly too late.

I love your profile pic, hope you keep it for a while, and I love you, Arlie Cash Wood!

  3. I understand and see your point, De'on, and I remember such moments on FDR's face. I think the situation may have been similar for both of these pictures for death was not far removed from him or me at the time.

  4. Well, it's far removed now! And you pump life into many old bones, and not just mine. Thanks for being such a good friend and so sorry that I've had such a bad day and maybe have been the molasses in it.

It's just been rough, but I know the moon still glows tonight and the sun will surely shine tomorrow.
